A street lighting conference with an award-winning history

The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) and Strategic Lighting Partners (SLP) are proud to announce the 3rd International Street Lighting and Smart Controls conference, to be held in Brisbane, Queensland, 14 – 17 March 2017.

This conference is the third in a series, building on SLP’s highly successful, award-winning Road Lighting conferences held in New Zealand in 2014 and 2015.

Across Australia and New Zealand only 10 – 11% of legacy street lights – including mercury vapour – have been changed over to LEDs. This puts us far behind the rest of the developed world, which has widely embraced the cost savings, public safety wins and environmental benefits this game-changing technology creates. The fact that LEDs are also an enabler for smart controls – which allow for remote dimming and a range of other exciting smart city functions – means the time is right for large-scale changeovers in Australia and New Zealand.

This conference will give road authorities and private sector organisations the tools to plan a strategic transition to smart control enabled LED lighting through long-term infrastructure strategies.

More than a dozen industry-leading experts will share lessons from the world’s largest LED lighting and smart control deployments. Delegates will meet the people who could help design, construct and finance projects and manage and underwrite the risk, and network with lighting engineers and project managers who are introducing the new technologies to New Zealand and Australia.

For sponsors and exhibitors, this conference provides unparalleled access to major decision makers within councils, electricity utilities and governments.

The conference is expected to attract more than 300 delegates from across Australia and New Zealand.

Invitations to sponsors and exhibitors to be part of this industry leading conference are now open. View the sponsorship prospectus here.

Registrations are opening early December – visit the conference website for more information. www.streetlightingconference.com.au

About the Street Lighting and Smart Controls Programme

This conference underpins the objectives and goals of IPWEA’s Street Light and Smart Controls (SLSC) Programme.

The Programme is an ambitious two-year initiative created with the aim to achieve near-full deployment of LED street lighting and smart controls across Australia and New Zealand by 2027.

It is backed by the Australian Government Department of Energy and Environment and the Commonwealth, State and Territory and the New Zealand Equipment, Energy Efficiency Program. The SLSC Council consists of government, peak industry organisations and the major industry leaders. The Technical Advisory Group is supported by more 30 specialist organisations.

The Programme will deliver model specifications, industry training, support improved standards and present a comprehensive, all-of-industry Roadmap, due for release in early December.
