The Western Precinct of Titanium Park has secured a major new occupier, with international packaging and recycling business Visy confirming it is investing $100 million into the project
Visy is building a three-hectare facility – reputedly the second-largest covered building in the Waikato – on an 8.5 hectare site within the industrial precinct.
This will be Visy’s second packaging facility in New Zealand, alongside its plant in Wiri, Auckland.
The 22-hectare Western Precinct in Titanium Park, located next to Hamilton airport, is being delivered by an Auckland based developer whose shareholding comprises McConnell Property and Todd Property.
Offering flexible lot boundaries, natural gas, business-friendly zoning and an absence of development contributions, three freehold sites (including the Visy site) have already been sold.
A further 1.5-hectare site is under contract, leaving 10 hectares available for sale.
Works on the key spine road into the Western Precinct are expected to be completed by September this year, linking to the adjoining state highways.
A range of easily customisable sites from 2500 square metres to five hectares in size are available to purchase.
McConnell Property General Manager Nigel Richards, says: “We’re delighted that Visy is building in the Western Precinct in Titanium Park.
“The significant move highlights the potential of this strategic location – a natural transport hub on the southern side of Hamilton bound by two state highways and State Highway 1 only a few kilometres away.
“The Western Precinct is proving to be a tremendous location for industrial occupiers, with Visy joining two other Waikato based businesses in the precinct.
“We would encourage any owner- occupiers, investors, agri-businesses or logistics and freight forwarding businesses to give the Western Precinct a serious look.
“We’ve already seen benefits with the addition of new infrastructure to service the Western Precinct such as the new $4.5 million roundabout at the intersection of State Highway 3 (Ohaupo Road) and State Highway 21 (Airport Road), which was co-funded with NZTA.
“Furthermore, the Visy commitment underpinned natural gas being available throughout the precinct.”
Titanium Park is a master-planned business park surrounding Hamilton airport.
Comprising six precincts, the initial development is focused on Central, Raynes and Western Precincts.
